Christian Fund Raising Idea
In the last post you may recall we talked about an idea to combine fund raising while pointing people to Jesus. Here is what we came up with (while fasting and prayer of course).
Here is how most fund raisers work: Each organization sets a goal to raise (X) amount of dollars. The group then rallies around the goal (usually an amount of money needed) and they begin to work to reach their goal.
Again, let me go on the record as saying there is nothing wrong with this method from a business perspective but from a scriptural perspective, it stinks.
Here is our fund raising idea, instead of using the money being raised as your group’s goal, pick something your group can rally behind. Why not decide to help someone in your local community and set that as your goal?
Example: You need to raise money for a mission trip to Mexico. You need $5,000. During your search for a worth while community project, someone in your group finds out the police department does not have enough money in their budget to buy a bullet proof vest.
The need is there, the money is not. Talk, pray then decide in the name of Jesus to raise enough money to get the bullet proof vest.
Here is how this works, your group needs $5,000, the bullet proof vest costs $1,000, the cost is 20% of your total (That was not an accident) so every $1.00 raised in the fundraiser $0.20 goes to the vest.
This will accomplish two things. First, it gets your group’s focus off of money and on to something tangible the group knows is needed. Second, the group leader has a different motivating factor to rally his or her group around.
Here is the really cool part, when you set the fund raiser up correctly, you will reach your goal. The group gets to present the vest to the police department and as a side note, they also raise $5,000 to go on their mission trip.
This is a true win-win situation that we at 1211 Clothing believe God can truly get behind and bless. Next post, we go into greater detail on how to get started on your next Christian fund raiser pointing people to Jesus.
